Are you rooting for yourself?

Do you speak to yourself with kindness, or do you hold a stern disposition towards results?

Sometimes we can get trapped in a cycle of criticizing ourselves. “Not being productive enough, being too emotional, spending money, over indulging”.. the list goes on.

What if you changed the internal dialogue to reflect something more supportive?

Next time you start to feel frustrated with yourself over something – flip the narrative. The way we think and speak to ourselves has a substantial effect on how we follow through with things and live our lives.

Example:

Original thought: “I am so stupid for thinking that would work?”

New line of thinking: “That was not the result I was hoping for… maybe I could try something different next time.”

Note: Avoid using this practice as a way to embrace poor habits. Instead utilize it in a constructive way!

  1. Great reminder – it’s so easy to be kind to others, why not ourselves?
